So Brookvale Records went down to Noise in the Basement this year. NITB is an Indie Record Store Convention in Baltimore, MD. We had a great time with all our friends. We did a great video presentation for Hotel of the Laughing Tree, Tiger Riot and Grace Read. After our presentation Grace came out and played a few songs. Check out the videos below.

Who traveled much faster than light,
She departed one day,
In a relative way,
And arrived on the previous night.

About Hotel Of The Laughing Tree
…”This is an excellent work from a band that sounds like they have no place to go but up. It’s a subtle album that houses moments of heartbreak and elation, and even though it plays fast at only eight tracks, Hotel of the Laughing Tree have introduced themselves to the scene, and hopefully what comes next will have them here to stay for good.” -http://www.mycrazymusicblog.com/
“Sometimes you can hear the fire burning, and with Hotel, that is the case. With enough originality to pique the ear but still tempered by a serious knack for melody, these guys keep the flame going strong throughout their new 8-track EP.”
-Garett Press, www.absolutepunk.net
“HOTLT tap into the sort of vintage, offbeat epics that the Dear Hunter play, but with a sound that’s wholly original.”
Tim Karan, Alternative Press.

2009 finds New York City-based indie-pop masters Nightmare of You at the height of their most inspired and creative period to date; with new songs, a new lineup, and a brand new full-length album entitled “Infomaniac”, slated for a August 4th, 2009 release. The band has formed a unique and passionate fanbase with its jaw-dropping live shows, creative blending of impeccable musicianship, master wordplay, and unforgettable melodies and harmonies. An aggressive touring schedule is slated for Summer/Fall of ’09 in support of the new album, with a 6-week US Headlining tour already in the books. Catch them whilst you can.
Visit the NIGHTMARE OF YOU myspace site here.
Nightmare of You is an American indie-rock band from New York City. Formed in 2004, the band currently consists of vocalist Brandon Reilly, formerly of The Movielife, guitarist Joseph McCaffrey, and drummer Michael Fleischmann.
They have toured both the US, and the UK both as a headline act and in support of other artists including AFI, Fall Out Boy, She Wants Revenge, Brand New, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, and Circa Survive. They have previously been nominated for mtvU Woodie awards for Best Tour and Most Downloaded. In April 2006, they were the winners of Yahoo! Music’s “Who’s Next?” competitionhttp. Past winners include My Chemical Romance, Coheed and Cambria, and Hinder.
Brandon Reilly was originally a member of the now defunct band The Rookie Lot, alongside current members of Brand New; Jesse Lacey, Garrett Tierney and Brian Lane. After the band parted ways, he became the guitarist of The Movielife and then eventually formed Nightmare of You.
The band originally self-released their debut album on their own label, The Bevonshire Label. They licensed it to East West Records in the US and Full Time Hobby in the UK. Three singles, with accompanying music videos, were released from the self-titled album. The singles included “My Name Is Trouble”, “The Days Go by Oh So Slow” and “I Want to Be Buried in Your Backyard”. All three videos have were featured on the Fuse TV shows Steven’s Untitled Rock Show and Oven Fresh. Another song from the album, “Dear Scene, I Wish I Were Deaf”, was also featured in the EA Sports video game, FIFA 07.
In the Spring of 2007 The Bevonshire Label split with East West Records. Nightmare of You then self-released a five song EP, entitled Bang!, on September 11, 2007. They toured in support of the EP with a headlining tour of the US in May/June 2008.
In 2008, the band recruited drummer Michael Fleischmann (formerly of Permanent ME), and began writing for their next studio album. Longtime friend and Brooklyn-based musician Brandon Meyer joined the band on bass in December of 2008, replacing original bassist Ryan Heil, playing his first show with the group on December 29th, 2008 at the Crazy Donkey in Long Island, NY. The band then entered the studio in January 2009 to begin recording their sophomore full-length record.
The new album, Infomaniac, was recorded at the Magic Shop Studio in the SOHO section of New York City in January 2009, co-produced by the band and Brian Thorn. The record was reportedly recorded and tracked in just a couple of weeks, with 16-hour sessions. Various video updates were posted on the band’s MySpace page throughout the sessions, keeping fans in the loop. The new album was finished shortly thereafter, entitled Infomaniac and was released through The Bevonshire Label on August 4, 2009. On May 18, 2009 Spin magazine released a download on their website of a new song entitled “I Think I’m Getting Older”, which is the lead track off of Infomaniac.
Nightmare of You started touring again in 2009, seeing the band first headline a UK tour in April (with support by Philadelphia-based band Jukebox the Ghost), followed directly by a support slot on the Alkaline Trio/Saves the Day tour in the United States. After a three-week break, the band then set out on its own 6-week US headlining tour in June/July of ’09, seeing the band play more than 35 cities in anticipation of the new Infomaniac album release.
On December 10, 2009, Nightmare of You played a gig at Binghamton University. At this show, Reilly announced that he would be departing for Italy thus placing the band on an indefinite hiatus.

About Brookvale RecordsDear Friends,
In 1971, my father Karl Groeger Sr. opened Looney Tunes. In 1988 my brother Jamie and I decided to buy our family store from our father. The store has seen many changes over the years but 2009 was one we will never forget. Our store became victim to a horrible fire that leveled the entire store and many thought that was the end of Looney Tunes. But I had other plans. Four short months later we reopened the store better then ever. Now 39 years after Looney Tunes first opened it’s doors, I have decided to start another new venture, Brookvale Records. I have wanted to start a record label for some time now. Many of us have “GREAT IDEAS”. It’s just not that easy to turn something from idea into reality. If the fire has taught me anything, it has taught me to stop thinking and to start doing. Now that I have a label I need distribution. It’s no good making a record if you can’t get it into stores. So we have teamed up with one of the best distribution companies in the country for physical, digital and mobile distribution, RED Distribution. (www.redmusic.com). RED is widely recognized as the industry leader in independent distribution and artist development. A division of Sony BMG Music Entertainment, RED handles sales and marketing for 47 independent record labels (labels like Victory, Equal Vision, Fat, Ferret, and Metalblade), as well as repertoire from parent company Sony BMG. RED has been named Distributor of the Year/Medium Division two of the past three years by the National Association of Retail Merchandisers (NARM). RED’s marketing outreach, including online lifestyle, is unsurpassed in generating fan excitement and building awareness for artists and marketing partners. So now all the pieces are in order.
For almost 40 years I have been developing artists though our efforts at Looney Tunes. It is now time to start helping bands on an international level through our label and distribution partner.
Sincerely,
Karl Groeger Jr.
CEO/President Brookvale Records.
